the one about a gracious host...

when used dog and i returned late yesterday after spending most of the day out of the house because of the inspection, i was just sitting down with a cup of tea and the door bell rang.
i hopped up and answered it but no one was there...mumbling to myself i returned to my sofa, (please note crochet throw from my thrifting the other day) to work on my final popcorn garland and drink my tea...a few seconds later the bell rang again.

once again i couldn't see anyone there and just as i was closing the door i heard a little
"excuse me"...
well dear readers, what are the chances of passing strangers (albeit of the gnome variety) coming to my door looking for some christmas cheer (thank goodness i did not buy the blue plates...)
trying to be a gracious host, i got a little closer...

"we are six little pesky christmas gnomes from Norway and have lost our way"...
"oh really" says i "then why do you have a 'made in Taiwan' label on your backs?"
ignoring my question the leader of the dubious bunch continued "please can we come into your lovely warm home, we saw your christmas tree and popcorn garland through the window and we wish to rest our weary tiny feet a while"
"ummm" i said...
"we promise not to be any trouble"...

from past experience with gnomes i do not believe it one bit, but i didn't want to hurt their tiny feelings so i invited them in...

and so dear readers i am now entertaining a bunch of little 'naughty looking' gnomes for christmas, they have taken up residence on my coffee table and by the looks of it, have a new furry best friend...not sure if there will be six of them for long...

i think she's going a bit loopy with the trials of house selling ~ Tif

First it was Father Christmas, now gnomes.....I think you should start taking more water with it!
Your house looks so tidy....even Indie looks tidy on her fur throne.

You sure know how to weave a little tale. They're adorable ~ the travel weary little gnomes. I wish you lived nearby so you could come and decorate my home. Yours looks so cozy! {I linked to you today.}

so if one were hoping to procure some little red hatted house guests of her own... where would she go? Cause i think i am so smitten that i must brave the feisty mischievous nature of the little guys. Please let me know if you have any insight in to this matter. :)

I love you blog by the way.

I love the red trees behind the pesky gnomes. They look like they are cut out of Jell-o.

Cute but 'dodgy' characters I think! Soon to be pussy fodder if they are not very careful... NOW on to the crochet throw (gasp at its beauty). Your thrifting finds may be a bit sparse these days but when you do get a find..............wow!

Those gnomes are adorable! So cute!

The clear red and orange trees on your coffee table are pretty cool too - they look like jello jigglers :)

It's very important to be polite with gnomes. Good thing you agreed to open your home to them! All gnomes originally came from Finland, but some have migrated to Sweden and Norway over the years through the north of Finland. That Made in Taiwan-label is something that should not be mentioned out loud, gnomes are very sensitive to it. It can be quite traumatic to suddenly bring up something like that. It's very hush-hush. But they seem to have settled in just fine in your house. And made themselves quite comfortable judging from your next post...
